Downloading datasets
UCAS datasets are provided as executable program (.exe files) to ensure that they download to your computer as quickly as possible. This means that you will need to run the program from your computer to access the spreadsheet(s).
When you select a file to download, you will be prompted to save the file to your computer. Do this, following the instructions carefully. It is important to remember where you chose to save the file, as you will then need to run it from that location. You can exit the website once you have been prompted that the download is complete. You now need to run the program from your File Manager or Windows Explorer. Follow the instructions carefully to unzip the file and install the spreadsheets into a new folder on your computer beginning c:\ucas. This folder now contains your spreadsheet to open, manipulate and print.
Note that in some operating systems you can unzip the file without first saving it by selecting Open or Run instead of Save when you select the file to download. This will take you straight to the unzip process. Follow the instructions carefully to unzip the file and install the spreadsheets into a new folder on your computer beginning c:\ucas. This folder now contains your spreadsheet to open, manipulate and print.
